Condescension is also a recurring them, in waiting for godot Pozzo constantly works to undermine whatever Lucky is trying to do. Whether it be from mockery or violence Pozzo seems to think of Lucky as less of a thing with feelings and more of an object which does not simply work anymore.
A similar comparison is in the play Hamlet, whereas Hamlet treats Polonius the same way. He doesn't see Polonius as someone who is a great deal in his life, even though he advises the king and is father to his ex-love Ophelia. He constantly mocks Polonius throughout the play as if it were just for fun, and then even when he kills him. He does not see it as a big issue, just another thing simply going away in his life.
Condescension is a key theme , it works to show how highly a person regards another character. Pozzo has utter and complete control over Lucky, so no matter what he is allowed to say anything and get away with it, Lucky for the most part does not care. He only cares about being sold. Polonius gets degraded by Hamlet, but in an indirect way. Hamlet acts crazy so Polonius cannot rationally argue anything Hamlet is saying back to him.
